Business Development Executive

The Construction Employers Federation (CEF) is the certified representative body for the construction industry in Northern Ireland.

The purpose of the role of Business Development Executive will be to identify, target and recruit new members to the Construction Employers Federation as well as undertake retention activities for current members.

Main areas of responsibility

  • Plan and lead new member recruitment operations, including the development of a pipeline of visits, in liaison with Assistant Director
  • Monitor and report on recruitment activities and the impact of changes on membership income
  • Develop and undertake existing member retention activities including one-to-one meetings and regional events
  • Maximise the understanding and use of existing services by members
  • Assist in developing and reviewing relevant services for members
  • Develop and maintain marketing materials to promote Federation membership
  • Contribute to membership communications such as the Federation’s Weekly News Update
  • Gather market intelligence and provide that to appropriate colleagues to inform and shape policy
  • Effectively communicate CEF policy positions and strategy to members and non-members, and by   doing so ensure a high CEF profile in Northern Ireland
  • Develop and build on existing approaches that capture member engagement
  • Uphold the Federation and its objectives and present a positive image of it at all times
  • Any other duties as required

Person specification

Essential Criteria

  • A Business related Degree
  • Proven track record in a business development role with related targets and direct experience of managing a portfolio of revenue income
  • Experience in building and maintaining customer relationships and business partnerships
  • Highly organised and efficient
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to negotiate, persuade and influence
  • The ability to handle a busy workload, meet tight deadlines and prioritise effectively
  • Ability to act on his/her own initiative as well as work as part of a team 
  • Driving license and access to own car for business purposes (with necessary insurance)
