The General Manager will take full responsibility for the efficient management and growth of the Dublin Depot through, effectively managing a team of functional leads across; driving, customer service, sales, accounts, route planners and production.

With over 28 years’ experience Frylite are the leading supplier of vegetable oil and collectors of used cooking oil in Ireland with its Head Office in Strabane, Co Tyrone, and depots in Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Coleraine. Frylite has a wide customer base which includes independent Restaurants, Pubs and Hotels, Schools, Contract Caterers, Food Processors as well as a number of well-known food chains


The Dublin Depot has grown to become the largest in the group in terms of the volume of fresh oil being distributed as well as waste oil collection; hence the requirement for a General Manager who will work closely with and be supported by senior managers across the group.


Job Description

  • Effectively manage and grow the depot to ensure that overall business objectives are met in terms of logistics, production, customers, quality, health, safety, environmental and ultimately the profitability of the depot
  • Work with senior management and management across the business to ensure consistent communication and delivery towards business objectives
  • Manage and motivate staff in a positive and engaging manner with open communication to ensure all staff deliver against set KPI’s and that they follow all standard operating policies and procedures
  • Recognise good performance and effectively manage poor performance
  • Manage staff working hours and attendance and ensure staff holidays are scheduled appropriately and that sufficient staff are in place at all times, particularly busy periods
  • Prepare reports on depot performance for senior management and raise any concerns or challenges
  • Effectively manage the routes and runs team on a daily basis and continuously review the performance of routes and runs in order to make improvements around overtime, volumes, communication and reporting
  • Ensure drivers rotas are efficient and that customer’s expectations are met and exceeded at all times and that any issues are dealt with quickly and professionally
  • Ensure the right number of drivers are working at all times particularly during busy periods and engage with driving staff so that they feel part of the bigger team
  • Ensure all driver and vehicle legislation and checks are adhered to and information recorded and kept up to date (e.g. licences, tachographs, insurances, fuel usage etc…)
  • Take responsibility for stock management and ensure daily stock counts and reconciliation
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports for the Operations Manager around staff, customers, accounts, stock, quality and health and safety
  • Manage the P&L for the depot and identify costs savings
  • Maintain a positive and motivated culture and environment of high performance and improvement
  • Comply with all quality, health, safety and environmental policies and instructions and actively contribute to Company efforts to promote safe behaviour and safe systems of work (BRC accreditation by October 2017)

Person Specification

  • Extensive experience of successfully managing operations in the complex fast paced food sector
  • Able to demonstrate a proven track record of performance and improvements in an operations management or general management role
  • Previous experience of effectively and positively managing people
  • Experience of using IT systems to extract and analyse information and produce reports
  • Ambitious and determined
