Appointment of Members to the Fitness to Practise and Registration Appeals Committees for The Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland
Forde May Consulting is seeking to appoint Committee Members for the Fitness to Practise and Registration Appeals Committees on behalf of The Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland.
The Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland is the regulatory body for pharmacists in Northern Ireland.
Statutory Committee
- 1 Chair and 1 Vice Chair
- 1 lay member
- 5 registrant members
- A reserve list of at least 11 people (7 lay and 4 registrant with at least 3 lay member being able to act as Chair and/or Vice Chair)
Scrutiny Committee
- 1 Chair and 1 Vice Chair
- 2 registrant members
- A reserve list of at least 8 people (4 lay and 4 registrant with at least 1 lay member being able to act as Chair)
Registrations Appeals Committee
- Will be constituted of those individuals on the Reserve Lists
Criteria for specific roles in each Committee:
CHAIR
- Legal qualification and recent chairmanship of a committee or similar
- Experience of giving reasoned decisions
- Experience in drafting conclusions clearly and concisely
- Ability to effectively exercise case management
LAY
- Knowledge and/or experience of representing the interests of the general public
- Never been and not eligible to be a registered pharmacist
- Previous experience of committee or tribunal work
PHARMACISTS/REGISTRANTS
- Pharmacists: Registered on the Pharmaceutical Society NI’s Register of Pharmacists
- Considerable current or recent experience of pharmacy practice (3 years or more in the last 6 years)
- Ideally previous experience of committee or tribunal work
Applicants for ALL positions must be able to demonstrate:
- A general understanding of and interest in the NHS, healthcare professions, pharmacy in NI and knowledge of healthcare regulatory issues
- Knowledge and/ or experience of representing the interests of the general public
- Previous committee or judicial work or service on a Tribunal, Board, decision making committee or Board
- Experience of evaluating evidence and making objective, unbiased, thoughtful decisions
- Experience of report writing, writing deliberations or case notes
Remuneration:
£500 per day for Chair or Deputy Chair when acting as Chair
£250 per day for Deputy Chair, Lay and Registrant Members
